water cyclinder --> water lamellae --> continuous water phase, for this system. In the lamellae region, the dispersion exhibited negative thixotropic and shear thicken properties. The bizarre rheological properties exhibited by the dispersion with water/oil ratios of 1 were explained in terms of ion-dipole association between oleate and hexanol molecules on adjacent dropletes, which was investigated as a function of pH, ratios of water and added salts. The mechanism was reported that there are three parallel reactions at the interface, i.e. extraction of gold(III) by N1923, TPPO and their associated molecule respectively, which accelerate the mass transfer of gold(III) from aqueous into organic phase obviously. A deterministic concept of kinetic synergism was presented and the relation between kinetic and thermodynamic synergism was discussed. When both B and BHSCN are present in organic phase, the reaction is as follows: M2+ + 4SCN- + 2H+ + (x + 2)B(o) reversible (BH) 2M (SCN)4.x(B)(o) where x = 0 - 4. When only BHSCN is present in organic phase, the extraction of Co(II) is poor and Ni(II) can not be extracted. The extraction of Co(II) by BHSCN is as follows: Co2+ + 2SCN- + 2BHSCN(o) reversible (BH)2Co(SCN)4(o). The lack of free amine N1923(B) in organic phase is the reason of poor extractability of Co(II) in this case. And the nonextractability of Ni(II) by BHSCN is due to the presence of Ni(SCN)4.2H2O2- in the aqueous phase. When two coordination water molecules of the species Ni(SCN)4.2H2O2- are replaced by amine N1923 molecules, the extractability of Ni(II) will be enhanced.
