HCl(upsilon\' less-than-or-equal-to 3) + H using hyperspherical coordinates. A newly fitted potential energy surface based on ab initio multireference Cl calculations, which was regarded as the best available PES for the exchange reaction channel of H + HCl, has been used. According to our calculational results, we find that the diagonal reaction probabilities are far larger than the off-diagonal ones except for P01R and the vibrational adiabatic principle is not well followed for this reaction. The oscillations of the probability curves are also noticed and the weaker dynamic resonances are identified. The slot is axially directed with respect to the primary guide and the coupling strength of the junction is controlled by the extent to which the slot is off-set relative to the guide centre line. The effects of the primary parameters, namely slot length, off-set, and frequency, on slot scattering are recorded and shown to be in good agreement with measurement. It is also shown that the precise location of the aperture in the end-wall of the secondary guide is more significant than previously suspected. Both normal and oblique incidence Rutherford backscattering of 2.1 MeV He ions have been used to study tilted angle implantation, i.e., the lateral spread of Ar, Xe, and Hg ions in the Si3N4 films. The results extracted are compared with the simulation of transport of ions in matter (TRIM\'89 code). The experimental lateral spread seems to be in good agreement with the TRIM\'89-prediction.
