摘要:I would like to thank Bengt H. Fellenius for his interest in the paper and for providing the opportunity to present additional information to clarify some points. I agree with his comments that one or more of the functions can be selected to simulate the measured stress–movement curve in an actual case. Note that the ultimate unit skin friction, τ_(su), and the movement for this resistance, S_(su), are required to determine the t–z functions. For practical purposes, the total stress approach or the so-called alphamethod (α-method) and the effective stress approach or the socalled beta-method (β-Method) are available to calculate the limiting unit shaft friction, τ_(su). However, the value of S_(su) can be affected by many complicated factors, such as construction methods, pile types, soil types, stratigraphy, and loading procedure, and is determined experimentally or by back-analysis of field load test results.
