摘要:The chip muffler is demanded to reduce noise for the natural draft wet cooling towers (NDWCTs), but significantly influences the tower cooling performance. Upon an in service natural draft wet cooling tower of a 1000 MW unit, a three dimensional numerical model is established to investigate the effects of the chip muffler on the cooling tower. The chip muffler units are evenly arranged around half the tower. The ventilation volume G and exit water temperature t2 are applied to quantify the tower performance. The accuracy and credibility of the numerical model are validated. Results indicate that the chip muffler around half the tower weakens the cooling efficiency of the studied tower. The distance between the chip muffler and cooling tower L is an important factor for the overall cooling performance. The results show with the increment of L, the G increases while the t2 decreases. With consideration of the tower performance, the chip muffler with L of 6 m can lead to a optimum cooling performance, which the G is found to increase by 6% and the t2 reduces by 0.334℃. © ICOPE 2019 - 7th International Conference on Power Engineering, Proceedings.
