摘要:In this work, the self-assembly of a two-dimensional (2D) colloidal crystal in a sessile drop was directly monitored using an optical microscope. Several interesting phenomena such as different manners in forming a double layer, rapid self-assembly via dewetting, and disorder-order structure transition during the growth of 2D colloidal crystals were revealed. The influence of chemical environment on the self-assembly process in a sessile drop and thus the quality of the 2D colloidal crystal was also investigated. The in-situ observation is helpful to achieve a better understanding of the mechanism behind convective colloidal self-assembly and are useful as process guidelines in the fabrication of high-quality 2D colloidal crystals.
