摘要：Ion exchange resin is a new kind of medical polymer biomaterial. Oral liquid preparation is a kind of common pharmaceutical dosage form, which exists in the form of liquid suspension or emulsion and for oral administration. The purpose of preparing the drug as a sustained release preparation is to maintain a constant blood drug concentration in a given period of time. In recent years, oral liquid sustained-release preparation with ion exchange resin as the carrier has been widely concerned both at home and abroad because it combines the advantage of ion exchange resin, sustained release preparation and oral liquid preparation. The drug can be adsorbed on the ion exchange resin by the exchange reaction to form a drug resin complex, which can reversibly exchange ions in the gastrointestinal tract and release drugs. Furthermore, coating or microencapsulation of drug resin complexes can better control the drug release rate. It is possible to obtain a more satisfactory slow-release effect by taking the drug resin complex as the core and selecting a suitable water insoluble but permeable polymer such as ethyl cellulose. Ion exchange resin is widely used in pharmaceutical formulations owing to the advantages of controlling the drug release rate, reducing the bitterness of the drug, improving the stability of the drug and reducing the adverse drug reaction. This article mainly introduced the sustained release principle, characteristics of ion exchange resin as drug carrier in oral liquid sustained release preparation, reviewed its research and application progress, and expected its advancement. © 2017, Editorial Board of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology.
