摘要：It is investigated that returnee ventures are mainly superior in technology innovation but no obvious advantages in economic returns. Based on existing discussions, this paper proceeds from returnee entrepreneur's culture distinctiveness and attempts to make new explanations for the above phenomenon. I argue that culture distinctiveness between the returnee leader and local partners can stimulate new idea creation and then increase firm innovation to soe extent; simultaneously, culture distinctiveness may also prevent returnees from adapting into local environments, thus this will correlate with low economic returns. Based on a survey of 225 returnee entrepreneurs in China, empirical results show that culture distinctiveness has a curvilinear relationship (inverted U-shape) with firm innovation; on the contrary, culture distinctiveness significantly reduces firm economic returns. This paper makes a few contributions to both theory and practice. Limitation and future research are discussed.
