摘要：Thermal explosion method was employed to produce Ni-Al intermetallic compounds using elemental Ni and Al powder mixture. The phase constitution, microstructure and microhardness of the products were investigated by means of X-ray diffraction, electron probe microanalysis and microhardness test. The results indicate that a uniform dendritic structure consisting of single NiAl is obtained with the composition of Ni:Al=1:1(molar ratio). When the molar ratio of Ni:Al is 3:1, the phases are mainly composited of β-NiAl phase with dendritic structure, γ′-Ni3Al phase with irregular block and net-like morphology, γ′-Ni3Al phase with irregular and pointed strip-like morphology and M-NiAl phase with needle-like and lath-shaped morphology. The precipitation of γ′-Ni3Al causes the stress field, the NiAl is a Ni-rich phase and the cooling process is non-equilibrium, these are all beneficial for the β-NiAl phase transforming to M-NiAl phase.
