摘要:A solitary pulmonary nodule (SPN) is often discovered on a chest radiograph or chest computed tomography (CT) scan. The detection of solitary pulmonary nodules is likely to increase, especially with the release of the National Lung Screening Trials sponsored by the National Cancer Institute of the U.S. National Institutes of Health. A SPN is usually very small, located deep in the pulmonary parenchyma, and often yields atypical imaging findings. When a pulmonary nodule or mass is seen, the main consideration is whether the lesion is benign or malignant. A number of signs suggest one or the other, but it is difficult to estimate definitively the probability of malignancy. So evaluating the character of SPN is an acknowledged difficulty throughout the world, and it has become a hotspot in research in recent years.
