摘要:By hot pressure technology, the new type of Ti(C, N) based micro/nanometer composite cermets cutting tools were fabricated. Cutting performance of Ti(C, N) cermets tools(material numbers are JT1-JT3) were investigated and compared with the commercial inserts like cemented carbide tools(YT14), ceramic tools(LT55, SG-4) when turning annealed carbon steel 45# steel. The results showed that the developed cermets tools are suitable for cutting annealed 45# steel, which are superior to YT14 in cutting performance. Especially the tool wear size of JT2 is small and the machined surface quality is high. In the process of cutting annealed 45# steels by JT2 tool, chips were segments. It can be concluded from the tool wear morphologies that the main wear mechanisms of Ti(C, N) tools are abrasive wear on tool flank.
